Charity Challenge for Bannatyne Head Office Colleague

Charity Challenge for Bannatyne Head Office Colleague

Bannatyne customer service centre supervisor Chris Hughes is putting on his hiking boots to raise money for the charity Target Ovarian Cancer.

44-year-old Chris has been inspired to raise funds for the charity, and awareness of the disease, by a member of his team who was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.

Chris, who works in the Darlington customer service centre, will be walking the East Highland Way and the Great Glen Way back to back, which is more than 160 miles, in eight days starting on 20th May 2023.

The East Highland Way is a long-distance walk between Fort William and Aviemore and the Great Glen Way runs from Fort William to Inverness in the north east of Scotland.

Chris Hughes said: “This is very personal to me. My hope is to raise awareness as far too many women are diagnosed too late.

“I also hope to raise £1,000 for Target Ovarian Cancer, which they can use towards research, raising awareness and supporting those affected.

“While it will be a challenge to complete both legs of the walk, it is nothing compared to that faced by my colleague, and by many other women.”

Duncan Bannatyne said: “Well done to Chris for taking this on, and raising awareness of a horrible disease. Many lives are touched by cancer, and ovarian cancer is a particularly difficult one to diagnose. The money he raises will undoubtedly go to a very worthwhile charity. Good luck Chris!”
