Barnsley member revisiting swim challenge!

Julie Kimberley, a member at our Barnsley club, is revisiting a challenge from 1997 to raise money for Barnsley Hospital Charity.

More than 25 years ago, Julie was part of the South Yorkshire Veteran Lifeguard Cross Channel Relay team which swam the English Channel in 15 hours and 43 minutes to raise money for Barnsley Hospital’s Children’s ward.

Fast forward to 20th March 2023 and Julie will be aiming to swim the equivalent distance over four days, this time in our Barnsley health club’s pool. She will be attempting 422 lengths each day, this time to support two projects funded by Barnsley Hospital Charity – the Make a Memory Appeal, which supports people living with dementia and The Well.

The Well, where Julie works, provides free complementary therapies for cancer patients in Barnsley.
